With heads held high and voices full of purpose, Mpigi Light College proudly took part in the East African Debate and Public Speaking Championship, hosted at Elite High School, Entebbe. The event brought together some of the region’s most brilliant young minds — and our students stood tall among them.
Representing the school in both debate and public speaking, our team delivered powerful arguments, persuasive speeches, and thought-provoking insights that captured the attention of judges and audiences alike. Competing against top-tier schools from across East Africa, Mpigi Light College advanced confidently to the quarterfinals, leaving a lasting impression with their poise and sharp intellect.
“It was more than a competition — it was a platform to grow, to challenge ourselves, and to be heard,” shared one of our student debaters with pride.
Among a large field of participants, our team ranked 11th overall — an outstanding accomplishment that speaks volumes about their preparation, resilience, and talent. To honor their efforts, all students were awarded certificates of participation and excellence, a proud token of their journey and achievement.
What set them apart was not just their ability to speak, but to listen, think critically, and engage with complex issues — skills we believe are essential for the leaders of tomorrow.
“This performance is a reflection of who we are — a school that values discipline, hard work, and holistic growth,” said the Debate Club Patron.
At Mpigi Light College, we believe in nurturing more than just academic excellence. Our students are trained to be bold communicators, critical thinkers, and confident ambassadors of their ideas. Participating in events like these strengthens their character and prepares them to thrive in a world that demands both knowledge and voice.
We congratulate our debate and public speaking team for representing us with excellence, dignity, and passion. The future speaks — and we’re proud it speaks through you.
